The brother of Elayne Trakand, Gawyn was a fun and relatively easy character to make. As they are siblings and bear a strong resemblance, I used my Elayne sim as a base to start with, then switched the gender and tweaked things here and there to give Gawyn a more masculine appearance while still keeping him visibly related to Elayne.

( Gawyn Trakand )

comments

So as of right now I have two versions of Faile in my folder. The first one I did without any slider mods, and the second try I used a few. Neither one of them is really quite what I envision when I think of Faile- her character description begets an image that is very difficult to properly capture- but I'm leaning more towards version 2. It seems a bit "cleaner" to me, a little more towards what I see in my mind from the books. Maybe I'll feel better about the second one when I find her a more appropriate hair.
So I finally gave in and purchased The Sims 3. Specifically, The Sims 3 plus Pets Limited Edition. I've been happily simming my time away since picking it up, and I'm really enjoying it (Not enjoying the amount of money I know I will inevitably drop on it!). This purchase happened to coincide with my decision to reread my way through the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan, while at work during my breaks. Naturally, I developed the unshakeable desire to create Sim!versions of the characters in the series, so I've poked and prodded my way to some rough first attempts of a few of the ladies. To kick it off, these are my (first) versions of Moiraine Damodred, Nynaeve al'Meara, Elayne Trakand, Min Farshaw, Egwene al'Vere, Aviendha, Faile Bashere and Siuan Sanche. So far I've used only EA game sliders, Newsea hairs (as well as EA hairs where I didn't have a more appropriate style), and tried to make approximations of the outfits they could be seen in, at least within the restrictions I have regarding available custom content. I used RoseSims3's head pendant jewelry accessory for Moiraine's kesiera - I realize it doesn't match quite with the canon description, but it was the best I was able to dig up. With any luck, by the time I get revisions of these ladies done, there'll be more for me to use! Anyway, enjoy the pics, and feel free to comment on the sims! Constructive criticism is always welcome, but please don't "flame" me if the depiction isn't exactly how you pictured in your head! =)

( Ladies of the Wheel of Time )

comments

I have several sets of skins and eyes that I made forever ago sitting in my downloads folder. I had plenty of skins already, but I was constantly finding skinsets from other creators that I admired, and then reworking mine to incorporate the features I wanted. Same with the eyes. As a result, my downloads folder was absolutely bursting with the sheer amount of skin and eye genetics crammed in there. From maxis match to semi-realistic (except neon. Good lord neon skins scare me!), I had them all. With my personal blends sandwiched in there amongst it all.

Recently, I was taking a look at all the goodies I have and realized that those skins and eyes just didn't quite live up to what I like now. They were great when I first made them, and they've performed admirably in helping along my sims' genetics, but they just needed something... more. Or less. Some of the textures were a bit crunchy compared to what is out there these days, so I decided to clean them up and prune out what I don't really need/want/use. Cleaning them up resulted in more of a "wipe the slate clean and start over from scratch" approach. /sigh

( Karma )

( Beautiful Disaster )

Edit: Some of my pictures failed to upload properly to my journal, so I will post them when I can get it working again.
I made some walls for my Sims 2 game some time back.. got tired of the plain boring siding, and feeling inspired by the natural stone veneer half-walls common to the exterior styling of the homes I enjoy, decided to make my own for my simmies. I made several different shades, using six textures borrowed from full walls that Maxis already had in the game. They tile together seamlessly from what I can tell in the game (and they had better, they're just textures borrowed from existing walls!). These are especially handy when you want the look of a stone or veneered foundation without actually putting in a foundation, or for sprucing up older original Maxis-made houses. Here's the "natural wood" color version... Don't laugh.

comments
